This edition was translated by W. Wright from Syriac manuscripts in the British Museum. The translator's intention was that this be a humble companion to the Evangelia Apocrypha of his friend Professor Dr. Tischendorf of Leipzig.

Where the manuscripts were torn or otherwise illegible, the translator has inserted within brackets what he supposed that the missing words or letters may be. He has included corrections and notes.

This edition was published by Williams and Norgate in 1865.
